Chief Justice Bart Katureebe has urged the Land Commission of Inquiry headed by Justice Catherine Bamugemereire to clearly analyze matters while conducting its operations.
Katureebe while speaking in the annual magistrates’ conference this week in Kampala, said that there is no bad blood between the Judiciary and the commission. He however advised Bamugereire to start collaborating with them in order to avoid controversies within the Judicial sector.
“I appreciate what the land commission is doing but I would advise them to stop condemning other judicial officers without giving them a chance to be heard ,” said Katureebe.
Katureebe’s remarks follow the document from the land commission of inquiry which was read to president Yoweri Museveni in presence of Deputy Chief Justice condemning the him (Chief Justice) for hindering the commission performance.
He said that it was a poor move by the land commission to start attacking and destroy judicial officers’ careers by marking them as corrupt officers without listening their side.
“The land commission has to pass through proper procedures and listen to all parties before making any conclusions, it looks too bad for the commission comprised of judicial officers who tarnish the same field they belong to,” complained Katureebe.
Recently, the chief justice received a dossier from the commission out lining the name of judicial officers who are intentionally fighting them.
After recovering this report, Katureebe set up a team to investigate the authenticity of the report and then later come up with a full report in order to carryout an appropriate action against the suspects.
