Government is willing to extend electricity in all villages throughout the country in a phased manner.
The assurance was made on Monday by Ntungamo Woman MP Beatrice Rwakimaari while addressing the parents of Kashenyi Integrated Nursery and Primary School in Nogma sub-county, Rushenyi county, Ntungamo district during ‘Speech day’.
At the same occasion, 34 top class pupils ‘graduated’ to primary one 2019.
Rwakimaari said it is a gradual process to fulfill all government programmes, asking public to wait until government secures funds to work on its all priorities such as rural electrification.
She hailed parents for embracing education noting that very soon, the World will be a global village through new advancement of technology and those who are not educated will be left behind.
“I thank the directors of Kashenyi Integrated Nursery and PS and others for starting a school in a remote area which has enabled parents around to educate their children,” she said before pledged a water tank at school.
Earlier in the day, she made a courtesy call at Bankok Traders who lost their property to fire that razed a market recently. She also made a stopover at Omugyenyi, where she oversaw the repairing of a bore hole which is being used by villages of Katuba and Kakungu.
The Ntungamo district inspector of schools, Fred Bahati advised parents to always keep pre- primary documents of their children because they are essential and a springboard for them in future.
Bahati revealed that the pre-primary graduation is an inspiration and motivation for pupils to read hard such that they can attain higher degree at tertiary institutions.
The director of the school, Garshom Agaba commended teachers for academic performance of the school since 2009 when they started sitting UNEB examinations.
He noted Kashenyi Integrated nursery and PS has been performing well in the district with first and second grades only and assured parents that this year will also excel at P7 level. Agaba highlighted challenges including water and electricity and what will be done next year.
Others speakers were head teacher Michael Begumisa and chairman PTA Tumusiime who thanked parents for being supportive.
Kashenyi Integrated nursery and PS is private school which was started in 2005 in Kashenyi trading center with few pupils but now has over 400 pupils.
