President Yoweri Museveni and wife Janet Museveni, were on Friday part of the congregation that turned up at All Saints’ Cathedral Nakasero in Kampala to mourn the passing on of the late Yona Namawa Wapakhabulo who, earlier this week, succumbed to a bacterial infection that attacked his heart before spreading to his lungs.
He passed on at Platinum Medical Centre in Kampala last Monday aged 46 years old.
He was son to former Parliamentary Speaker, late James Francis Wambogo Wapakhabulo and Ambassador Angelina Wapakhabulo.
In his remarks, Museveni said he was not happy with a saying by people that God called the person that has died thus wondering if God has run short of company.
“I always have problems at funeral functions like this one. People repeatedly say God called the person that has died. I am not happy about it. Has God run short of company,” he said.
The president also that God should take old people like him instead of the young people like Namawa.
“It saddens me that Yona has gone at his prime and in such circumstances. I don’t mind if God takes some of us, in fact I am waiting for Him to call me, but I think Yona’s death could have been avoided,” revealed Museveni.
