The ministry of foreign affairs has officially written to the Algerian government demanding the whereabouts of wanted police officer ACP Baroza Jonathan who was attached to African Police headquarters in Algiers but has since gone missing.
A letter dated July 9, 2018 which WU website has seen, Mr Mark Seremba writes to the Ugandan Embassy in Algeria seeking explanations on the whereabouts of the former aide of police chief Gen Kale Kayihura who was attached to Afripol. This website has also established that Ugandan embassy in Algiers also made official inquiries at Afripol on behalf of the Uganda government seeking to know where the officer seconded at the Afripol might be.
The letter from Foreign Affairs written on behalf of Permanent Secretary, says the ministry of Internal Affairs demanded to know where the officer ACP Baroza Jonathan had other assignments from the embassy.
However, this website understands that Baroza has never worked at the embassy since his assignment in Algier as he has always worked at African Police which is another organization all together from the embassy.
“I am in receipt of a letter from the Ministry of Internal Affairs requesting me to establish if the above named is still in Algeria or on an assignment elsewhere.
“Before I respond to the ministry internal affairs, please provide details indicating whether the officer is still with you or if not, indicate the circumstances under which he left Algeria and where he could be.”
This website understands that the embassy forwarded the letter to Afripol.
When this website spoke to the Ambassador Alintuma Nsambu, he confirmed receiving communication from Kampala regarding Baroza, he however added that he forwarded the communication to the relevant employer of ACP Baroza, which is the Afripol.
“Baroza is not our staff. He was recommended by Addis Ababa to Afripol, not, us. Actually, police has not been involving us in its activities at Afripol or Algeria. So, the IGP knows better what Baroza is doing,” Nsambu who complained about reading Baroza issues in newspapers, and not through right organs, said.
