The game of football has taken several changes over the years and in the modern set up, there are new innovations and inventions almost on a daily basis. With the sports industry and football in particular becoming a lucrative venture, the stakeholders need to embrace the new trends to ably compete.
It is on that note that the Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) has embarked on a strategy to make sure the game is given a facelift and suit the professional and modern set up.
FUFA in conjunction with the Uganda Premier League on Thursday organized a one day symposium at Serene Suites Hotel in Mutundwe, Kampala for all the 16 clubs playing in the top tier league aimed at transforming the local league into a more professional and competitive entity.
This directly falls in line with the Vision of becoming the number one football nation in Africa on and off the pitch that FUFA set in its 5 year strategic plan.
The symposium was attended by several key stakeholders including FUFA President Eng. Moses Magogo, club chairmen and Presidents, Club Owners, CEOs, coaches, the Uganda Premier League Secretariat and the FUFA Executive Committee Members among others.
In his remarks, the FUFA President indicated that in order to achieve the target of transforming the game, concerted efforts from all stakeholders are needed to move in the same direction.
“We have set ourselves a Vision of becoming the number one football nation on the continent and in order to achieve this, we need all the stakeholders on board and to play their respective roles. Football has evolved over the years and keeps going through changes almost every hour. It is therefore important that we also follow the modern trends so as to get to our dream’ said Magogo
The FUFA President went ahead to assert that the main aim of the symposium is to find the challenges that clubs face and give solutions.
“The symposium today will help us know the current status of our clubs, the achievements so far, the challenges and forge a way forward.” He added.
