UPDF Deputy Spokesperson Lt. Col Deo Akiiki on Friday tied a knot with his lover Kansiime Mercy in a colorful wedding ceremony.

Posting on his Facebook page, the army serviceman thanked God for fulfilling his dream to marry the beautiful Mercy. He also thanked his friends for according him support.

“Thank you Lord for making this happen. May his name be Glorified forever. I thank you my friends from far and wide for your support,” wrote Lt. Col Akiiki.

It should be remembered that Lt. Col Akiiki was recently battling fellow officer identified as Maj, Gerald Bamwitirebye over the same woman.

Maj.Bamwitirebye, a defence lawyer at the General Court Martial, had moved to block Lt Col Akiiki from marrying Kansiime whom he claims as his wife.

Maj. Bamwitirebye claimed to be the husband after a customary marriage to Kansiime at her parents’ home in Rubaare, Ntungamo district on November 11, 2012. Bamwitirebye also claims that they have two children, aged six and two, who he claims have been snatched by Lt. Col Akiiki.

Maj. Bamwitirebye said Lt. Co Akiiki is already married to another UDPF soldier, Sarah Takoberwa, whom he is also abandoning.

On the other hand, the army spokesperson dismissed Bamwitirebye’s allegations whom he termed as malicious aimed at damaging his reputation.
