Senior presidential adviser on security Gen Salim Saleh has refuted reports that former Inspector General of Police Gen Kale Kayihura had been arrested.

“What should I do to such fake news as an advisor to the president?” asked Gen Saleh, on the Facebook page of one of Kampala’s top commentator who had shared a post from one of the media outlet that Kayihura had been arrested and detained in Kololo.

Last evening, rumours filtered through that Gen Kayihura had been arrested by a joint team of Special Forces, chieftaincy of military intelligence and Internal Security Organisation operatives in Lyantonde.

That followed reports that military officers had combed Courtyard hotel in Lyantonde looking for a person who the rumourmill said was Gen Kayihura.

However, Gen Saleh commented on social media last night saying the reports were “fake news”. Watchdog Uganda reported on its Facebook page saying Gen Kayihura was at his farm at Kashagama.
