The military has rubbished reports that there was an any operation to arrest former inspector general of police, Gen Kale Kayihura.

Deputy UPDF spokesman Lt Col Deo Akiiki when contacted by this website on Wednesday morning about last night reports that the former IGP was under military surveillance, he responded, “that is trash”.

Akiiki who says is on leave however assured the public that the military was not involved in any operation of that kind. He also said he had “no idea” of any military operation in Lyantonde as reported in the media on Tuesday evening.

On Tuesday, reports trickled in saying the security officers had condoned off Lyatonde hotels, allegedly searching for Gen Kale Kayihura.

In the night, Senior presidential adviser on security Gen Salim Saleh refuted the reports asking a rhetoric question, “What should I do to such fake news as an advisor to the president?”
