Eid Al Fitr to be celebrated on Friday or Saturday

The Director of Sharia Uganda Muslim Supreme Council Sheikh Yahaya Ibrahim Kakungulu has urged Muslims to look out for the moon during the evening of Thursday 14th June 2018 because it will be the 29th day of the Islamic month of Ramadhan 1439AH.

He said this during a Press Conference held today at the UMSC Headquarters Old Kampala.

The Director said if the moon is sighted that evening, this year’s Eid El Fitri will be celebrated on Friday 15th June 2018.

“If the moon is not sighted onThursday June 15th this year’s Eid El Fitri will automatically be celebrated on Saturday 16th June 2018” the Director of Sharia said.

He urged whoever sights the moon or is in possession of reliable information to pass it on to UMSC Headquarters Old Kampala on the following telephone numbers;

He wished Muslims a peaceful Eid El Fitri and urged them to celebrate in accordance with the Sharia.
