KAMPALA – Former Mityana District Woman MP Joyce Bagala Ntwatwa has made a dramatic return to the media, rejoining Next Media as co-host of Sanyuka TV’s Sanyuka MorningXpress.
Bagala, who previously built a strong reputation in broadcasting before entering politics in 2021, now co-hosts the popular morning show alongside media personality Haffy Powers.
Her return marks a full-circle moment—from newsroom leadership to Parliament and back to television. Prior to her political career, Bagala rose through the ranks to become Head of News at NBS TV, one of the country’s leading broadcast stations under Next Media.
Sanyuka TV welcomed her return with enthusiasm, describing it as a homecoming and positioning her comeback as a blend of media experience and political insight gained over the past five years.
Bagala’s first appearance on the show sparked widespread reaction online. Taking to X (formerly Twitter), she acknowledged the mixed feedback, writing: “Too much love…and hate at the same time. I like. Thank you for watching @sanyukatv today. Please keep the conversation going. Ate enkya mukeerako.”
The response from the public has been divided. While some viewers have welcomed her return to the screen and praised her experience, others have linked the move to her recent political exit, questioning the transition from Parliament back to mainstream media.
Bagala began her career in radio, working with stations including Sanyu FM, Beat FM, and Buddu FM before transitioning to телевision, where she became one of the most recognisable faces in Ugandan news.
Her return to television adds a new dynamic to morning programming, with observers keen to see whether her political background will influence the tone and direction of discussions on the show.
As Sanyuka MorningXpress continues to attract a growing audience, Bagala’s presence is expected to further boost viewership—and potentially reshape the conversation around current affairs on morning television.
Whether this marks a reinvention or a strategic return to familiar ground, one thing is clear: Joyce Bagala is back in the spotlight.
