Col. Atwooki Ndahura, the Director of Police Crime Intelligence has been recalled back to Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF).
The army spokesperson Brig. Richard Karemire confirmed the development saying Col. Ndahura is expected to immediately report to UPDF headquarters for redeployment.
Ndahura was a close ally to former police Chief Gen. Edward Kayihura and he under his directorate, he ran special operations aimed at cracking down criminal gangs in the country.
UPDF’s move comes at a time when a number of top Police officers who worked closely with Kayihura have been transferred from the IGP office to other positions.
Before his appointment as Police Director of Crime Intelligence in 2015, Ndahura had earlier served as an officer of the then Presidential Protection Unit (now Special Forces Command).
He also served in the Special Revenue Protection Services (SRPS) between 2002 and 2006 under Gen. Kayihura.
