The Archbishop of Church of Uganda Stanley Ntagali has urged people who claim that the Church should not speak about politics to go back and study what politics is.
He made the remarks on Wednesday morning at Parliament where he led the Ash Wednesday prayers.
“If there are people saying that the Church should not speak about politics, I encourage them to go back and study what politics is,” he said.
The Archbishop said politics is a way of governance of the society so it shouldn’t be limited to certain class of people.
He further noted that the Church is also part of governance and there is no way it can be barred from taking part in politics.
Last Saturday President Yoweri Museveni warned religious leaders to stop provoking him and lecturing him about what to do for Uganda.
His remarks came after, Rwenzori Diocese Bishop, Rt Rev Reuben Kisembo telling him to step down during the commissioning ceremony of the new Kyebambe girls secondary school Chapel in Fort Portal town.
