Police have today raided ASP Muhammad Kirumira’ home in Bulenga in a bid to arrest him following his move to resign from force.

Over 30 officers have been deployed at his home and on seeing them, the Buyende DPC locked himself inside the house as a way of resisting arrest.

However, all determined officers decided to use metal cutting machines to break Kirumira’s door.

Earlier he posted on his Facebook page, ““Over 30 police men surround my home. They are forcing themselves inside,”

Apparently, the officers have managed to break into Kirumira’ house and he has been arrested.

Kirumira, on Wednesday through his facebook wall, resigned from police days after being charged with six counts.
He said he decided to throw in the towel to enable police court fulfill their ‘motives’.

“I have realised that my image before the administration shall never change and given the fact that I am still a young man, I have resigned from the force to enable the police court fulfil their motives.”

Last Tuesday Police Tribunal charged Kirumira with six counts alleging that he committed the offences when he was in-charge of Nansana Police Station in Wakiso District and Old Kampala as division police commander in 2013 and 2014 respectively.

He was arraigned before police tribunal at Police Headquarters in Naguru and charged with torture, extortion, corruption, bribery, unlawful arrests and excessive use of authority.

However Police Spokesperson Emilian Kayima, yesterday revealed that Kirumira’s act to resign from the force is a sign of act of indiscipline that contravenes the act of serving police officers.
