Electoral Commission has set March 15th, 2018 as the voting date for the Jinja East Municipality parliamentary seat.
The Electoral Commission Chairperson, Justice Simon Byabakama, says the Commission has also gazetted January 29th to February 2nd for the voter’s register update exercise.
According to URN, the candidates will campaign for 25 days from February 19th to March 13th from 7:00am to 6:00pm. Polling will take place on Thursday March 15th, 2018.
While addressing journalists on Thursday, Justice Byabakama banned all fundraising activities in the constituency effective February 2 to provide a leveled ground for the candidates.
He disclosed that EC has taken steps to ensure there isn’t a repeat of what led to the cancellation of the previous polls.
