Victoria University to give out scholarship to 10 students from each district of Uganda

Through Ruparelia Foundation’s ‘Support the community scholarship’; Victoria University is going to give out scholarship to 10 students in each district of Uganda.

The scholarship program will cover 50 percent of tuition fees of students intending to study at the institution.

In a letter dated 19 January, 2018 , NRM Secretary General Justine Kasule Lumumba requested all NRM District chairpersons to identify at least 10 deserving and qualified students from their communities within the districts to scoop the chance.

Ms. Lumumba said the selected students must have the capacity to pay the remaining 50 percent of the tuition fees in addition to other functional and administrative fees as may be required by the university.

“M/s Victoria University is awarding 10 slots to the National Resistance Movement at every direct for the 2018 intake, which commences February/March, 2018; and the scholarship shall be available once the applicant submits the application forms dully endorsed by the NRM secretariat,” She noted.

“Please find attached hereto details of the university admissions and ensure that the list of your choice of beneficiaries reaches the NRM Secretariat by Friday 9 February, 2018,” Lumumba urged the party chairpersons.

According to Ms Lumumba, the objectives of the scholarship are to make quality of higher education affordable, promote equity in the communities by supporting talented students acquire the necessary academic qualification, grow studentship to specific programme, boost and attract talent ;help address the skills gap in the economy and address challenges of poverty through the avenue of human capital development.

Victoria University which has been operational for the last seven years, is a private university owned by property mogul Sudhir Ruparelia.

The institution is accredited by the National Council for Higher Education (NCHE) and the Uganda Nurses and Midwifery Council (UNMC).
