Early this month, USA President Donald Trump profanely commented about African countries by calling them ‘shithole countries’.
Trump’s comment came after lawmakers’ suggestion that America restores protection for immigrants from Africa.
His comment was negatively perceived by a number of people and he was harshly condemned for being heartless and racist.
However, unlike other Africans, it seems President Yoweri Museveni is happy with Trump’s ‘power of words’.
Today while opening up the East African Legislative Assembly (EALA) session in Kampala, President Museveni revealed that he loves Trump since he tells Africans frankly.
He said he doesn’t know whether the US president is misquoted or whatever but what he does is telling Africans the whole truth.
He thus pointed out the need for East African integration in case the region needs to survive and overcome Trump-like comments.
“I love Trump because he tells Africans frankly. I don’t know whether he’s misquoted or whatever. He talks to Africans frankly. In the world, you cannot survive if you’re weak……that’s why we need East African integration,” he said as quoted by Daily Monitor.
