President Yoweri Museveni has saluted the people Koboko district in the West Sub-Region in particular and the entire country generally for harnessing peace and political stability under the NRM Government saying that these must be sustained to ensure that the country keeps on the path of development.

“NRM brought peace that rekindled national, political and economic development, revamped education, the health sector and infrastructure like roads, electricity to support small scale factories upcountry, provision of jobs and starting sources of income generating activities for homesteads,” he said.

President Museveni was addressing a delegation of 350 people comprising opinion leaders, councillors and political mobilizers from Koboko District, led by State Minister for Privatization and Investments, Hon. Evelyn Anite, who called on him yesterday at State House, Entebbe.

“The people of Koboko are the witnesses of peace in the country because of NRM organisational struggle as your area now has the power line and tarmac road right from Kampala to Koboko,” he said.

The President said that as a Christian, he believes in resurrection after death adding that resurrection can still take place when one is still living.

“Resurrection can, however, still take place even when you are still alive. When I see my children and my grandchildren in the country, I know I have already resurrected. This is a biological resurrection through blood of grandchildren. I have also witnessed my political resurrection because the children are talking good ideas. So, I am happy with the people of Koboko for choosing and sending us good leaders,” he said.

Mr. Museveni further assured them that Koboko district is peaceful because of the NRM organisational struggle and no doubt, he said, it will remain peaceful regardless of the unstable borderlines of the DRC and South Sudan. He told the meeting that this has been the programme of the NRM that is based on the pillar of peace and non-sectarianism upon which a strong Army and a strong NRM Party have been built.

The President called upon leaders in Koboko district to sensitise their communities about good hygiene, sanitation, nutrition, use of mosquito nets to ward off malaria and to avoid bad lifestyles involving alcoholism and HIV/AIDS.

“With this approach 80% of diseases can be avoidable,” he emphasized.

President Museveni also encouraged the communities of West Nile to put into action government strategy of banishing household poverty through embracing fully the four-acre land policy for economic production in order to earn household income. He also cautioned them against the traditional land fragmentation practices saying that family members should instead hold shares rather than apportioning the scarce land.
