Kampala police boss has said artiste Bobi Wine is free to perform at any concert, but not Hon Robert Kyagulanyi.
Frank Mwesigwa, the Kampala metropolitan has sought to distinguish between the artiste and politician in Bobi Wine whose original name is Robert Kyagulanyi.
The police boss said, “Bobi Wine is free to perform on musical concerts,” he added, “but the moment we see Honorable Robert Kyagulanyi on stage, we shall arrest him.”
Mwesigwa explained that police did not “refuse Bobi Wine to perform on musical concerts, rather we refused Hon.Kyagulanyi Sentamu Robert to be on musical concerts…We want him to know that there is a difference between Bobi Wine and Hon.Robert Kyagulanyi.”
He said Bobi Wine has been turning his music shows into platforms to do politics, which police says the Kyadondo East MP is not allowed to do.
Bobi Wine is one of the prominent musicians in Uganda, who turned politician this year. He has continued to make music performances and is one of the most sought after performers in Uganda today.
However, his political cap has accompanied him on and off stage making the police and ruling party machine to target him as his popularity is growing by day.
