Vipers Sports Club returns to action on Saturday in a highly anticipated encounter against arch rivals SC Villa.
After earning a hard fought 1-0 win against BUL FC last week, the focus for the venoms as they host SC Villa at St.Mary’s stadium is to make sure the momentum is kept.
Matches between the two rivals are always tense therefore St Mary’s stadium will not be a place for the faint hearted as the encounter is bound to be explosive.
Vipers go into this match with an impressive home run after winning 6 games and 1 draw from the previous 7 league ties played at the St Mary’s stadium since it was opened.
Team manager, Miguel Da Costa is fully aware about the magnitude of the showdown and believes he has a team capable of getting maximum points come Saturday.
” Tomorrow’s game is important for us, playing a great opponent that challenges for the same targets like us, so it will not be an easy game,” he said before adding,
” But we are at home, very prepared and we shall try to play our best and this means winning,”
Midfielder Tadeo Lwanga who joined the Venoms this season from rivals SC Villa will be playing against his former side for the first time.
However, he indicates he is not bothered about his history but the focus at the moment is to help Vipers win tomorrow’s game.
” It is a big game for us as a team but more so for me as an individual because I’m playing against my former club,” he said.
” Of course, I thank them that they gave me a chance to showcase my talent, but football is a job and right now that’s history, all my focus is to help Vipers win,” added Lwanga.

The manager will have concerns about right back & skipper Nicholas Wadada who is doubtful for the Saturday encounter due to a cold.
Youngster Frank ” Zaga” Tumwesigye is also sidelined with an injury while midfielder Moses Waiswa is not fully fit despite playing in the 4-0 friendly against Greater Masaka FC on Wednesday.
The other player who is out injured striker Clovis Moussa Mbayi who pulled a hamstring before the game against BUL FC.
Before Villa registered a double over Vipers last season, they had gone 14 matches without registering a win over the Venoms.
Vipers SC sit 6th on the table with 4 points same as SC Villa.
FIFA referee Alex Muhabi has been assigned the duty to officiate this mouth watering encounter and will be assisted by Okello Lee and Ronald Katenya as first and second assistants respectively
