It was the same story on Tuesday 5 Sept, 2017 at the Borg El Arab Stadium in Alexandria when Uganda Cranes took on Egypt. Barring the results in which the home side won 1-0, Ugandan fans who travelled long distances to cheer the team made a huge difference.

‘We felt at home when we saw our fans in the stands. They were cheering on the team and it was a nice feeling seeing tem support the team till the end of the game’ said FUFA Communication Manager Ahmed Hussein.

‘Our players know how much the fans go through in terms of mobilizing resources to follow the Uganda Cranes while on international engagements’ added Hussein.

Despite the loss, Uganda Cranes players and officials went close to the stand where Ugandan fans watched the match from and waved to them to acknowledge their support.

‘It was unbelievable to see huge number of fans. It is a pity that we didn’t win to make them happy but we shall not give up on the dream. It is always our wish to see our fans happy’ said Denis Onyango Uganda Cranes Captain.
