An assistant nurse at Najjera Hospital identified as Samuel Tumukuratire has been charged and remanded to Luzira Prison for allegedly raping and impregnating a patient.
He was charged on Monday, before City Hall Grade One Magistrate Moses Nabende who did not allow him to take a plea, being that his offenses are capital in nature and can only be heard before the High court.
The 29 year old was remanded until 18th August 2017, for mention of his case.
Prosecution alleges that on 5 June, 2017 at Najjera Hospital, Tumukuratire sedated the female patient and had sexual intercourse with her without her consent and she realized that she was pregnant yet she had taken a year without having sex because her husband was working overseas by then.
