Kampala Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago has termed the new elect Kyadondo East Member of Parliament Kyagulanyi Sentamu commonly known as Bobi Wine as a symbol of defiance.
While appearing on NBS TV’s Topical Discussion show today morning, Lukwago said the singer is with them since he symbolizes defiance.
“Bobi Wine is one of us, he symbolizes defiance. All those people in Kyadondo East who voted for him see him as a politician. If you talk about people power, you ride on sovereignty of people. He became a rally factor of forces of change and that change is political,” Lukwago said.
However, the Lord Mayor disagreed with Bobi Wine’s assertion that he is not a politician rather a pure leader.
Lukwago said Bobi Wine to say that he is not a politician but purely a leader is wrong because he is not a political leader citing that if he continues to put across such message, he will create contradictions.
“Bobi Wine has always been with us. But I wouldn’t agree with him if he said he wasn’t a politician; that would be semantics. For him to say he is purely a leader is not correct; he is not a religious leader but a political leader. If he is to continue with the message he has put a cross, it will create some contradiction. You can’t say you can always operate alone.” He noted.
