Daudi Mpanga: Mengo to appeal ruling ordering Kabaka to produce bank statements over land

Buganda Kingdom will appeal the ruling of the High Court ordering the Kabaka of Buganda Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II to produce a number of documentations including of the number of people Kabaka land and his bank statements in both Stanbic Bank and Bank of Africa.

Buganda Kingdom Attorney General Daudi Mpanga has told the media that the Kingdom was preparing to challenge the ruling.

Court ordered Kabaka to reveal the money Buganda Land Board collects from people living on the Kabaka’s land following a case filed by a one Male Mabirizi Kiwanuka.

Kabaka Mutebi was taken to the Civil division court in April over unlawful collection of ground rent (Busuulu) from all occupants of Kabaka land.

Mabirizi also wants an injunction on Mengo’s new initiative “Ekyapa mu ngalo” where occupants on Kabaka’s land can acquire lease on the said land for a period of 49 years.
