Reports reaching us indicate that the Lord’s Resistance Army butcher Joseph Kony could be dead. Kony has been reportedly ill in the past couple of years.
The reports come days after Uganda People’s Defence Forces pulled out their forces from the Central African Republic (CAR) where troops have been deployed for more than five years chasing the elusive Kony, and a band of his men.
Kony who has waged a war against the government of Yoweri Museveni since the late 1980s, killed, maimed and destroyed property and lives of thousands of people in Northern and Eastern Uganda.
However, he has ran similar atrocities in South Sudan, Democratic Republic of Congo and the Central African Republic. If Kony is dead, it will bring an end to the suffering of thousands of people, especially the women and children who are living in his captivity.
However, the same people will miss seeing the man in the dock for atrocities that he has committed for more than two decades.
