National Resistance Movement (NRM) candidate Stella Atyang has been declared winner of Moroto Woman MP Seat by election.
The seat fell vacant following the death of former MP, Annie Logiel who died in Denmark where she had been flown for treatment.
The official election date has been 26 April 7, 2017 but since Atyang has been the only nominated candidate by close of nomination days, Moroto Electoral District Returning officer, Achan Joyce Aleper has decided to declare her as a winner.
“Being the Returning Officer for Moroto Electoral District, pursuant to sec 14(1) (b), having nominated only one candidate Atyang Stella of National Resistance Movement (NRM) by close of nomination days, accordingly declare Atyang Stella elected (unopposed) District Woman Representative to Parliament,Moroto District,”Aleper stated.
