URA Commissioner General Doris Akol, URA top management and beneficiaries are today expected to appear before Parliamentary Committee on Commission of Statutory Authorities and State Enterprises (COSASE) again over the infamous 6billion presidential handshake.
COSASE which is led by Abdul Katuntu last week started probing into the UGX6bn oil bonus which was awarded to 42 government officials after winning a capital tax gains case against Heritage Oil.
During the first grill, Akol shocked MPs when she distanced herself from initiating the oil cash bonanza instead pinned former Attorney General Fred Ruhindi of being the mastermind behind the bonanza.
“Ruhindi letter was the very first one to the President. He humbly requested the president to consider a reward as promised in 2014 for the team for its exemplary service to the country,” Akol said.
The oil cash bonanza sparked public outrage where 42 senior government officials were awarded shs6 billion by President Museveni for their role in a capital gains tax dispute, in which the government was awarded a total of $700m.
