President Yoweri Museveni was in happy mood as he received a resolution from the Kyankwanzi National Resistance Movement (NRM) leaders calling for the amendment of the Constitution by Parliament to lift Presidential Age Limit from the current 75 years to none.

According to State House press statement, the President spared time to receive the resolution during a meeting at the Kyankwanzi State Lodge with squatters at the National Leadership Institute (NALI) land.

The Kyankwanzi district leaders, led by the district Member of Parliament, Anna Maria Nankabirwa, told Museveni that they want the Age Limit requirement lifted to enable leaders like himself, continue with leadership.

“The Kyankwanzi district conference sat on 4th July 2016 and passed a resolution calling for the removal of Presidential Age Limit,” Nankabirwa said.

Receiving the resolution, President Museveni said that he would consult with the NRM Central Executive Committee (CEC) and the NRM leadership.

The Age Limit clause bars anyone from standing for president when they are below 35 years and when they are above 75. Museveni is around 73.
