Dark lips, this is one of the biggest reasons why some ladies can’t leave their homes without applying lipsticks, too bad sometimes these lipsticks or balms just make the ‘dark lips’ problems worse.

Dark lips are mainly caused by many factors which include smoking, drugs, over exposure to sunlight, dehydration, lip cosmetics, among other factors.

But if this is your problem, today we have put down for you five alternatives of homemade natural remedies you can follow to make your lips bright or pink.

Honey and sugar

Using this combination on your dark lips will not leave them the same. Sugar is the best exfoliation agent you can easily access in your kitchen, sugar scrub off the dead skin cells that brings that dark appearance on the lips, thus leaving them brighter and moisturized. Well as honey keeps the exfoliated lips hydrated, healthy and smooth.

How to use it

Put one table spoon of sugar in a small bowl, add a table spoon of honey and then mix the ingredient well.

You can use your finger tips or a soft toothbrush to scrub the mixture on your lips for about 1-2 minutes. However, don’t scrub the lips so hard for it might cause soars or irritations. Leave the mixture on the lips for some minutes before washing it off with water.

Beetroot Juice

This fruit has many health benefits, but did you know that it can also help to brighten your dark lips! Beetroot helps in tissue development, thus leaving your lips smooth and hydrated.

How to use it

For better result, combine beetroot juice with honey and gently apply on your lips, use a soft tooth brush to massage the lips gently for about 3 minutes. Leave the mixture on your lips for over the night and in just a week, your lips will be pink again and you will never need lipstick again to cover those dark shades.

Lemon and Natural oils

How to use it

Squeeze half a lemon into one teaspoon of oil, mix the ingredients thoroughly. Use your finger to massage this mixture on your lips for about 3-5 minutes, you can leave it on the lips all thought the night.

For best results, repeat the procedure for about 2 weeks, depending on how dark your lips look.

Honey, Strawberries and Aloe Vera

Honey and strawberries are sweet but Aloe Vera is very bitter, but did you that if they are mixed together they can change your dark lips to pink?

Aloe Vera has a smoothing ingredient which helps to keep the lips free from irritations and cracks, it also facilitates growth of new skin cells. Well as Honey and strawberries are good at moisturizing the lips, leaving them smooth and soft.

How to use it

Take equal proportion of Aloe Vera, strawberries and honey, mix them proportionally in a bowl. Apply this paste on your lips with either your finger tips or soft tooth brush. Leave the paste on the lips for about 20-25 minutes and then wash it off with water.

Follow this procedure for about two weeks for best results.

Lemon and sugar
