Uganda Little Hands Go Green Head of Projects Camila Wangoi is among the 204 women selected to attend the Forum of Women Journalists of Africa (Les Panafricianes) Workshop that will take place in Casablanca, Morocco on 26-27 October this year.
The women journalists have been selected from 54 African countries.
The workshop that will run under a theme ‘African migration: a chance for the continent, a responsibility for the media’ will focus on a complex issues such as climate migration and food security, journalistic treatment of migration issues, African migration: the importance of reliable data availability among others.
Speaking about her invitation, Ms. Wangoi said it was an honour to be selected among the team that will represent Uganda at the forum and revealed that as an environmentalist she will discuss more on the issues regarding climate migration and food security.
“Am so humbled that am going to be part of the Forum of Women Journalists of Africa Workshop and being green i will focus more on climate change and food security,” she said.
The first day of the Forum will be devoted to debates, with a morning debate on the theme “From one bank to another, for a fair look at migrants”.
The meeting will feature prominent migration experts such as Larry Macaulay (Nigeria), founder and editor-in-chief of Refugee Radio Network in Hamburg, Germany, RafaellaConsentino (Italy), reporter for the TV channel. Rai “specializes in migration issues, Driss El Yazami (Morocco), President of the National Council for Human Rights (CNDH), and Patrick Otim (Uganda), a specialist in migration and member of the organization” Refugee Law Project in Kampala.
Samira Sitaïl, Deputy Managing Director in charge of information and magazines of 2M, will moderate the discussion.
In the afternoon, the women journalists will meet behind closed doors for a series of workshops whose work will form the basis of a concrete action plan to place migration issues at the heart of the continent’s public concerns.
The next day, and after presenting restitution work of each workshop, “Les Panafricianes” will decide by electronic vote on the hierarchy of priorities of their action plan for 2018/2019.
