Kampala, Uganda – June 11, 2025: Dr. Sudhir Ruparelia, Chairman of the prominent Ruparelia Group, has issued an urgent public warning regarding a fraudulent X account impersonating him. The fake account, operating under the handle @RupareliaSudhi, has been spreading misleading information, prompting concerns about potential scams targeting unsuspecting users.
In a press release issued today, Dr. Ruparelia clarified that he does not maintain any personal or official presence on X (formerly Twitter). He emphasized that any posts or communications originating from the fake account are entirely fraudulent and should be ignored. “I do not own or operate any account on X,” Dr. Ruparelia stated, urging the public to exercise caution and avoid engaging with the account.
The prominent businessman, known for his extensive contributions to Uganda’s real estate, banking, and hospitality sectors, called on the public to report the impostor account to X’s platform administrators for immediate action.
Authorities have yet to comment on whether an investigation into the account’s creator is underway, but such incidents often raise concerns about identity theft and online fraud.
Dr. Ruparelia’s warning underscores the growing issue of impersonation on social media, where fake accounts exploit the credibility of public figures to deceive followers. The public is advised to verify the authenticity of any account claiming to represent prominent individuals and report suspicious activity promptly.
