Cocoa farmers in Uganda have urged government to educate people about cocoa growing because it is profitable.

Farmers said cocoa has a high market in Uganda in that one kilogram costs between shs8,000 to Shs10,000 but very few people grow it on a large scale.

Farmers say people lack knowledge about cocoa farming and also those growing it face a lot of challenges that affect its production.

Growing cocoa on a piece of land leaves the land barren that farmers can’t plant other crops which is also a problem to the farmers.

Farmers also face a challenge of fake pesticides which are sold expensively yet they are not good for the crops.
Also the government should provide good and treated seedlings to the farmers which will help them to increase on the production in Uganda thus improving the economic status of the country.
