As more Ugandans visit US, Canada and other countries where Thanksgiving is celebrated, a clamor to bring it home has grown over the years. Although a day remains a work day in the country and therefore some people have it privately.

This is not going to be the case this year.

Bullion Events is going to make a special Thanksgiving day dinner, performances, ambiance, et al, to make Thanksgiving 2019 eventful.

A special dinner dubbed Nsiimye “Give Thanks” will take place at Kampala Serena Hotel on November 23.

It’s been one of those years full of ups and downs, surprises, late nights and the big deals. So lets take time to thank and appreciate the people that walked with us. Thanksgiving Day is a national holiday celebrated on various dates in Canada, USA, Grenada, the Philippines, Saint Lucia, Liberia and the Netherlands. It began as a day of giving thanks and sacrifice for the blessing of the harvest and of the preceding year.

The Friday after Thanksgiving kickstarts the Christmas shopping season with promotional sales. The day is called Black Friday which has already taken off in Kampala, thanks to shopping offers from Game supermarket and Jumia.

According to aljazeera.com, “President Abraham Lincoln was the first US president to officially declare the festival as the last Thursday in November and the date was set in stone by President Franklin D Roosevelt in 1939 and approved by Congress in 1941. Canadians celebrate Thanksgiving on the second Monday of October.
