Motorsport Africa Club (Mosac) one of the country’s oldest and founding members of Federation of Motorsports clubs Uganda (FMU) has criticized the running of the federation.
Mosac, one of the 15 registered clubs that make FMU now feels it is not being run in accordance with the objectives of why it was set up. Mosaic was integral in the founding of the federation.
“We have noticed a complete breakdown in management. No department of the federation seems to be working since the president is seen handling every department, why?” Read part of the statement from Mosac signed by club president Frank Bayendera.
The club also called for an immediate change especially regarding the FMU executive committee chaired by president Dusman Okee.
“Management committee has taken over the work of the executive committee, something totally unacceptable. We need to refer to the constitution on this issue,” reads the document.
Mosac also accuses FMU of failing to chair executive meetings, shutting down of federation departments and lack of proper guidelines and poor planning.
“No committee or commission has submitted any report or work plan to the executive for a very longtime. While it’s the executive to make decision in absence of the AGM, it’s not always the case of recent. No consistent and planned executive meeting. And in case of any, no resolution is reached.”
Failure of the federation to issue competition licenses, poor management of clubs and club affairs on top of organizing events that have seen some of the biggest grave safety breaches in recent history with the federation likely to face legal actions over the Busiika event which left one person dead in October.
“The clubs are not seen properly managed partly because of the federation. Now federation issues competition license, anyone can change clubs anytime. Meaning clubs have no say.”
The concerns come after a season blighted by technical misinterpretations and grave safety issues. The FMU technical department took over three months to interpret rules pertaining the Pearl Rally scoring system that involved group S.
Currently, the federation is likely to face legal action over an accident that left one person dead and several others injured during a competition last November.
