Asaph Mwebaze has reportedly gone Absent Without Leave (AWOL) from Onduparaka, Watchdog has learnt.
The former Maroons tactician, who joined the Arua-based club in June has reportedly ‘been missing from the club’s training and radar for some good days’. Nobody at the club knows his whereabouts.
Mwebaze was last seen by the club after their 2-1 away loss to Maroons at the Prison’s Ground in Luzira before the international break.
He has not conducted a single training session since then.
It is also claimed by sources from within the club that he was asked for clear answers regarding the manner in which they lost to Maroons.
However, there are also claims that the tactician is not happy with the club due to criticism coming his way from sections of both club officials and fans who claim that he has shunned using West Nile born players in preference for ‘foreigners.’
This is not the first time that a coach has faced such claims, with former coach Livingstone Mbabazi also being unpopular for using ‘Kampala based players’.
Onduparaka hierarchy is silent on the issue and no statement has been released yet.
Attempts to reach Mwebaze or his representatives were futile as their contacts could not be reached.
However, other sources privy to the matter claim the tactician has since left the country to seek employment in Kenya.
