Television queen Faridah Nakazibwe dragged Red Pepper newspaper to the Media Council seeking arbitration and compensation.
The Mwasuze mutya morning show host on Ntv complained to the Media disciplinary committee council about the unlawfully articles printed and published against her by the Red pepper and its sister publication Hello news paper.
Stories such as “Sexy Faridah dumps granny Kigongo” Published by the Red pepper of 23rd December 2015, and “Fiance sold Faridah to Kigongo @Shs70m” published in Hello tabloid of 16th of December 2015 are among the 38 articles Nakazibwe stated in her testimony.
Nakazibwe says in her testimony her family has been haunted by the stories published by the respondents (Red pepper and her sister company Hello) and has suffered mental anguish and a lowered esteem in the eyes of her children, family and society.
On May 14, the Media disciplinary committee under the chairman of the disciplinary committee Paulo Ekochu directed that the respondents to make a prominent apology to the complainant in at least 10 publications and also pay the complainant a sum of Ushs 45,000,000 as exemplary punitive and general damages.
However Nakazibwe’s lawyers were not satisfied, saying the Media Council was too lenient.
