Kampala. A non-governmental organization, Brother in Christ, faces allegations of concealing LGBTQ advocacy within its youth empowerment and skills training programs.
Leaked court documents indicate that this organization, which is primarily focused on male youth empowerment and skilling, is accused of using donor funding to promote an LGBTQ agenda in Wakiso and Kampala areas.
The allegations regarding this matter have surfaced during a child custody dispute currently before the Nansana magistrate’s court, involving one of the directors of the organisation who is accused of involvement and promotion of these acts.
It should be noted that according to the Anti-homosexual act 2023 it’s illegal to promote and engage in any acts of homosexuality in Uganda and it carries a death penalty if caught.
Following the act’s signing, the government has intensified its efforts to crack down on individuals and organizations believed to be promoting similar activities.
It is understood that the organization’s directors have been missing since these allegations started circulating in January of this year.
Since the Anti-Homosexual Act came into force in 2023, claims have been that LGBTQ donors are using nonprofit Organizations to encourage the youth into riots such that they can destabilize the country and overthrow the government.
The president noted that this won’t be tolerated and will be addressed with force.
The police and the authorities in wakiso district say they have received several complaints against the organization and investigations are ongoing.
The district officials also advised the youth not to be lured into such practices and encouraged them to report such organisations to law enforcement officials.
