During a weekly security address at Police Headquarters-Naguru, Luke Owoyesigire, the deputy spokesperson of Kampala Metropolitan Police, shared details about a serious incident that took place in Lungujja on October 13, 2024.
Two suspects, identified as Derrick and Mark, were arrested in connection with an armed robbery involving a group of 10 individuals at Abdu Hussein Apartment in Lungujja. The robbery was reported to be aggravated, meaning it involved the use of weapons and posed a serious threat to the victims.
While in custody at Nateete Police Station, Derrick attempted to escape. In response, a police officer on duty shot him in the arm to prevent his escape. Derrick was quickly taken to Mulago Hospital for treatment but sadly succumbed to his injuries.
The police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the robbery and the shooting incident.
