Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) Executive Secretary, Mathew Bukenya is dead.

Bukenya was at the helm of  the board for over 20 years (1995- 2016).

The management of UNEB confirmed the sad news on Monday morning.

“Deeply saddened about the passing of Mr. M.B.B Bukenya. His guidance and mentorship meant the world to most of us in UNEB,” the management said.

We will always cherish the lessons he imparted and the support he provided. His leadership was exemplary, guiding and inspiring….May his soul rest in eternal peace,” they added.

Bukenya was the longest serving chief examiner after replacing David Ongom in April 1995.

Ongom was axed following leakage of primary and secondary examination papers that year.

Bukenya was formally appointed on January 6, 2003, after seven years in acting capacity and went on to run the national examinations board for 17 years.
