President Yoweri Museveni has revealed why he usually calls his son ‘Muwooji’ instead of his real name Muhoozi.

During Lt Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba’s Birthday dinner at State House Entebbe on Sunday, the President said people call the UPDF Commander of Land Forces by his real name but for him (Museveni), he calls him ‘Muwooji’.

He explained, while in exile in Dar-es-Salaam, Tanzania, their neighbour was Gen Tito Okello (RIP) who couldn’t pronounce the name Muhoozi and for him he used to called him ‘Muwooji’.

Tito Okello Lutwa is a former President of Uganda.

Since then, Museveni says he got familiar with ‘the new found name’ and he calls him ‘Muwooji’ to date.

During the same dinner that was also attended by Rwanda President Paul Kagame, Museveni also disclosed that Gen Muhoozi and Gen Kagame are old friends who have a long history together.

“Parents, listen to what your young people say. Give them your opinion but don’t suppress them. That’s what I’ve been doing for my children. You may be suppressing something good,” the President noted.

“I want to thank H.E Kagame for responding positively to Lt Gen Muhoozi’s invitation and coming to pay a visit to Uganda after years of not coming here,”he added.

On Sunday 24th April 2022, Gen Muhoozi officially made 48 years of age. His mega birthday bash was held on Saturday (23rd April) at Lugogo Cricket Oval. Then on Sunday, a birthday dinner was held at State House Entebbe where First Family members, President Kagame, Senior government officials, and Muhoozi’s close friends attended.
