The provincial secretary Rev. Canon William Ongeng has told the aggrieved Christians of the Diocese of Kigezi to only petition to God who anoints his servants.

While addressing the press in Kabale on Friday as he monitored the preparations of the Kigezi Diocese ahead of consecration, Rev. Canon William Ongeng said it’s only God who anoints and its Him who removes his servants, thus advising the petitioners against enthronement of the new bishop to send their petition to the most High God but not Courts of law.

Rev Ongeng was leading a team from the Province of Church of Uganda in Kigezi assessing the preparations of the consecration and enthronement of the Diocese of Kigezi Bishop Elect Rev Can Gad Akanjuna slated May 29th 2022.

“Its Gods choice and we cannot deny what the lord has done. I call upon those who say that they’re aggrieved to know that God is the one who chooses and those who are aggrieved should report to the one that appoints, who is God is the lord God we serve, we are just instruments that God uses for his appointments,”Rev. Ongeng said.

A section of Christians from Greater Kabale had petitioned Archbishop of Uganda Stephen Kaziimba Mugalu over what they termed as irregularities in nomination and election of Rev. Gad Akanjuna who is set to replace Rt. Rev. Eng. George Bagamuhunda as the next Bishop of Kigezi Diocese.

While monitoring progress of the preparations, Rev. Ongeng said that he found the ongoing preparations in high gear despite fears that things might not work out. He added that he is glad that the consecration and enthronement ceremony is going to work out.

Rev. Canon Akanjuna who was on February 9th 2022 elected as the 6th Bishop of the Diocese of Kigezi by the House of Bishops of Church of Uganda sitting at Lweza training and conference centre will be enthroned and consecrated on May 29th 2022 by the Archbishop of the Church of Uganda His Grace the Most Reverend Dr Stephen Kaziimba Mugalu at Kigezi High School Primary and President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni is expected to be the guest of honor.

Rt Rev George Bagamuhunda the outgoing Bishop of the Diocese of Kigezi says that there has been the supervision of different facilities that are controlled by the Bishop. He added that the team has also come up to an agreement of holding the consecration and enthronement occasion of the Bishop Elect at Kigezi High School Primary Lower playground as more than 6000 people will be expected that day.

Rt. Rev. Eng Bagamuhunda confirmed that preparations are going on smoothly and that he expects over 6000 people all over the world to witness the enthronement and consecration ceremony. Bishop Bagamuhunda also  called for calm among Christians not to have fear of the rumors that are ongoing saying that when the lord calls He fulfills and that He will make Rev. Akanjuna the 6th Bishop of the Diocese of Kigezi.

Canon Johnson Barintuma Munono the head of laity in the diocese of Kigezi and chairperson organizing committee said that he is optimistic that all arrangements are going on well and that a team from the province has Okayed to continue going on in order to make the consecration and enthronement ceremony successful.
