Retired supreme court Judge George W. Kanyeihamba has eulogized the fallen Ex-Speaker Jacob Oulanyah as the greatest giant who changed Uganda’s Parliament for the better.

Speaking at his home in Buziga Kampala, Justice Kanyeihamba said although Oulanyah has lived a short life on earth, he has done great things before his death.

“His integrity and timekeeping; that meetings should start on time and many instructions that he gave to new members of Parliament, will remain forever and it will be for the good of this country that such orders are respected.”

He added that the deceased was a true nationalist, a man of his word and his work of revolutionizing Parliament will always be remembered.

“He respected everybody’s time that is why was a good timekeeper. His qualities and integrity as a lawyer were always before him. While deputizing Speaker Kadaga, they left the great history of work and the future Parliaments will leave and thrive on their legacy in an attempt to do the right thing. Jacob Oulanyah will live in the history of Uganda as a great giant or performer who made many changes possible in Parliament in a short time.”

Kanyeihamba noted that the late Oulanyah was fearless but loyal to his parties from time to time.

“No supporter from NRM or UPC his former party can accuse him with hypocrisy or having betrayed their principals, he respected his electorates. As a nation, we shall miss a lot of him. Oulanyah has left us with a lot of lessons to learn from his integrity.”

Oulanyah, 56, died on 20 March in Seattle US where he had gone for specialized treatment.
