A 23 year old man has succumbed to injuries sustained after being beaten by a mob that accused him of failing to pay Shs 1,000 for alcohol that he drunk.
Obadia Fred Ainembabazi of Mugyeratemba village Bunono parish Nyarushanje, Rukungiri district met his death after drinking alcohol,and Thereafter running away.
However,he didn’t succeed as a crowd which was running after him got hold of him before subjecting him to mob justice.
It’s alleged that on Sunday night while at Karukara trading center, the deceased went to drink alcohol in the bar belonging to Komugisha Nancy and took booze of Shs1000 which he failed to pay and instead ran away.
According to the Kigezi regional police spokesperson Elly Maate, Ainembabazi was chased and arrested from the compound of Bagashekyi Harriet where he was tied with ropes on the guava tree, assaulted and left hanging unconsciously until he was rescued and rushed to Kisiizi hospital where he died on arrival.
According to Maate, three people who include Ambrose Ensinikweri, Harriet Bagashekyi and Nancy Komugisha have been arrested to help police in investigations.
This case has been registered at Rukungiri police under file number RUK CRB 087/22.
