The Speaker of Parliament Rebecca Kadaga has summoned the Minister of Health Dr Jane Ruth Aceng and State Minister of Kampala Benna Namugwanya to explain to parliament allegations that they flouted Presidential guidelines on the prevention of Covid-19.

Ministers Aceng and Namugwanya have in the past one week been photographed talking to crowds without masks on, and without observing social distancing.

Although Minister Aceng explained the circumstances under which she was caught in a crowd, and that she was showing people how to wear masks, MP Joseph Ssewungu raised the matter in parliament on Tuesday, after which the speaker asked that the two ministers to appear before parliament to explain themselves.

On the other hand, Bukonjo County West, Atkins katusabe has demanded that Dr Aceng resigns following the allegations that the she convened a mass gathering contrary to Ministry of Health guidelines and Presidential directives of social distancing among other guidelines.
