People Power spokesperson Joel Ssenyonyi has told veteran journalist Andrew Mwenda that he is an Educated lumpen.
Ssenyonyi’s remarks followed Mwenda’s claim that People Power is a group of unemployed intolerant lumpens.
Appearing on nbs TV’s Frontline political show on Thursday, Mwenda further claimed that the political movement is a cult.
“I don’t think People Power can end corruption because they’re a deeply corrupted movement. We need to understand how they conceptualise power. You either agree with them or with Museveni,” the political analyst said.
Adding, “People Power is a cult of extremely delusional people, one of the most intolerant movements in our country. They believe they’re so cool they’re the only ones who love Uganda and believe that whoever doesn’t think like them should be attacked.”
In response, the former NTV news anchor told Mwenda that not all unemployed people are lumpens and in the intellectuals there are also some lumpens like him.
“Unemployment is not a character but a situation, and for your information not all unemployed are lumpens. There are even intellectuals like Andrew Mwenda who are Lumpens,” Ssenyonyi said.
