City lawyer Ladislaus Kiiza Rwakafuzi was on Sunday rushed to Nsambya Hospital after suffering a stroke.

The human rights advocate is currently hospitalized under the hospital’s Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

“Doctors say he is in stable condition. We are waiting for him to be transferred from ICU to the ward,” Rwakafuzi’s relative told Chimpreports, an online news website.

A stroke is a sudden interruption in the blood supply of the brain. Most strokes are caused by an abrupt blockage of arteries leading to the brain (ischemic stroke). Other strokes are caused by bleeding into brain tissue when a blood vessel bursts (hemorrhagic stroke).

The lawyer, who has for 20 years been fighting for human rights and providing free services to the needy whose rights have been abused has also represented in  court a good number of political activists like four time presidential candidate Dr Kizza Besigye, former vice president Gilbert Bukenya among others.
