As has been the norm for the past couple of years, singer Grace Nakimera spent Easter Sunday with the under privileged of Kireka, Katooke.
Easter is a festival and holiday commemorating the resurrection of Jesus from the dead.
Last year, through her foundation aptly named ‘Feed the Streets’, Nakimera ‘motivated and inspired kids through preaching and teaching them about God and Life’. It was no different this Easter Sunday as the the youngsters enjoyed music, dance and food.
“We have been working with about 250 street children. We are glad that most of then showed up today to celebrate and enjoy Easter Sunday with us,” the ‘Nkwagala Kufa’ singer told Watchdog Uganda.
” We served them with a few drinks and food and of course that there was the best and only way we could celebrate Resurrection Sunday.”
According to Nakimera, Easter Sunday was ‘about getting together and putting a little smile on their faces.’
“Most of those kids could have gone hungry if we weren’t there. I thank God we were given the opportunity to be there today,” she said. “It was more of ‘food for the soul’ than ‘mere food'”, she added.
