Police have today, Tuesday, April 16 arrested two for trying to con a man of Shs2million.

According to a statement by the Kampala Metropolitan Police communications department, David Gasumba a resident of Makindye and Mary Akello of Entebbe approached a young man who had been sent to DTB Bank, Ntinda branch with Shs2million.

They then tried to deceive him that they had dollars for which they Ugandan currency.

“They convinced the boy that he would get profit and took him out of the bank to a nearby restaurant,” the police says.

Unfortunately for them, the unidentified young man had already tipped off the police.

A few plain clothed officers from Ntinda Police post swung into action and arrested the duo.

“On searching them, we found the suspects with papers that were cut nicely into pieces to depict the size of a dollar and tied in a bundle.  One dollar notes were placed on either side of the bundle,” the police say.
They are currently being detained at Ntinda Police station pending court.
