It is no longer a rumor.
Leone Island boss Joseph Mayanja alias Jose Chameleone has confirmed that he is to run for the Kampala Mayorship seat during the 2021 elections.
During a presser at DNA Lounge Kololo on Monday, the Mateeka singer told the press that he didn’t take politics serious in the first place, but his fan have motivated and lifted his spirits of aiming a shot at seat of Lord Mayor in the forth coming elections.
“If my fans have chosen, why not? I have been a leader all my life and it won’t be a challenge for me to lead the people of Kampala if they want me to lead them as their Lord Mayor. I am not a politician and I am to do all this as a musician because that is what I know best,” Chameleone said.
He reveled that he is currently organizing his manifesto, including all things he is planning to do for the Kampala people after he attains the mayor ship seat, and he promised to share the notes soon.
This news came as a surprise to many, as Chameleone once claimed that he has no plans of joining any political race even after fellow artistes had shown interests toward politics.
First to break this news was Chameleone’s young brother Pius Mayanja alias Pallaso during an Interview with nbs, as he told Douglas Lwanga that his brother will be running for the Mayor ship seat, though some people thought that he was just making news.
Chameleone joins artistes Geoffrey Lutaaya, Ronald Mayinja, Khalifa Aganaga, Dr Hilderman among others who announced their interest in joining Parliament race in the fourth coming elections.
