Police in Kisoro has arrested a 26-year-old man for allegedly hacking to death a female companion. The deceased has been identified as Gloria Biringira, 25, from Rushenyi village, Soko parish, Muramba Sub-county.
The deceased was cut severely at 10 pm Saturday night and died on her way to Mutolere Hospital.
According to police, Buni Pendo of Ntarama Village, Muramba Sub-county is in custody.
It is alleged that the deceased and the suspect have been in a relationship for some years and they have 4 children.
The two have been having domestic conflicts to the extent that they agreed to separate permanently of recently.
The deceased then moved back into her parents home in Rushenyi village where the suspect attacked her and cut her several times with panga, according to witnesses. He later disappeared to unknown place.
An angry mob then attacked the home of the suspect and razed his house, and those of his mother and grand mother.
Elly Maate, the Kigezi region police spokesperson has confirmed that scenes of crime have been visited by police and cordoned off pending thorough investigations.
“The case has been registered at Kisoro Police Station under file number SD 41/19/01/019,” he said.
