Francis Zaake, the Mityana municipality Member of Parliament (MP), has on Monday morning appeared before the Criminal Intelligence and Investigations Directorate (CIID) at Kibuli.

The legislator was scheduled to appear before the police investigators on November 21 to answer questions in regard to treason following the Arua-byelection fracas in August. He is also supposed to explain to the police why and how he escaped from custody and ended up in Kampala, according to Police CIID spokesperson Vincent Ssekate.

On November 21, Zaake did not show up due to poor health, according to his lawyers.

The outspoken legislator spent over a month in India undergoing specialized medical treatment following alleged torture by the army and police.
